Keep your account and links safe
How sign-in works without passwords, how long sign-ins last, and why private links should stay private.
This page explains how the app keeps accounts safe, and what you can do to help. It's for everyone who signs in or has a private link.
No passwords
There are no passwords to steal. You sign in with a 6-digit code sent to your email. Each code works once and lasts 10 minutes. See Sign in with an email code.
How long you stay signed in
- If you sign in with your email, you stay signed in for 14 days on that device.
- Guests (people who join with just a name) stay in for 24 hours, and only for one event.
- On a shared computer, sign out when you're done. See Sign out.
Keep private links private
Some links let the person who has them in without signing in, or act for the event. Don't share them or post them anywhere public.
- Host links open a host's page. See Give hosts their links.
- Voting links are personal to each member or proxy holder. See Get in to vote.
Each of these can be cancelled if it's shared by mistake.
A secure connection
Every page is sent over a secure connection (HTTPS). That means what you send can't be read on the way.
